AMUSEMENTS.

THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. The children's free matinee at the Foresters' Hall on Saturday afternoon was largely attended, the young; folk heartily appreciating Messrs Ihompson and Payne's kindness in entertaining them with such an excellent programme. In the evening the hall was crowded with a critical audience, who most generous in their approval of the bill of fare submitted. To-night pomething out of ttie ordinary run of pictures will be presented. Chief interest will, no doubt, centre round the film, "The Judgment ofthe Mighty Deep," which is generally-admitted to be the best dramatic study ever turned out by the well-known Edison Company. It is a deeply interesting' drama that is bound to become popular with the | firm's Maaterton patrons. This picture drew packed house 3 in Napier, where it was shown last week by Messrs Thompson and Payne. "A Child's Impulse" is a delightful drama showing how the pleadings of a little child overcame the wiles of a temptress. "The Purgation" is a l , cleverly-worked drama. There is a good supply of ciever comic and comedy subjects, while the pick of the scenics is "The Regatta on the Meekong," which is a beautifully tinted film. A number of other pictures go to make up one of the best programmes ever shown by Messrs 1 Thompson and Payne in Masterton.
