(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. BILLS PASSED. In the Legislative Council this after noon, the Land Settlement Finance and Contagious Diseases Repeal Bills were passed. oECOND READINGS. The Secret Commission Rill, Post and Telegrap'a Amendment Bill, Noxious Weeds Amendment Bill, and Counties Act Amendment Bill were read a second time.
HOUSE OP REPRESENTATIVES. The House met at 2.30 o.m. REPLIES TO QUESTIONS. Replying to questions. Ministers stated that no invitation [has been received m connection with the Coronation, but should any be received during the session, the House will be consulted; that no advice has been received from the Colonial Office fixing' the date of the Imperial Conference; that it is not intended to proceed with the Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill with the last amendment added by the Committee making the Government i-u f 'ject to municipal by-laws; that the Bill providing that workers on payment of a deposit shall be able to get dwellings erected will be brought before the House in a few day; that a cable has been received statbg that fifty boys will leave England for the Dominion by the Athenic on the 7tli December next, in connection with the emigration scheme propounded by Mr Sedgwick; that the question of granting a bonus to encourage engineers, flaxmillers and inventors, to improve fiaxmilling' machinery is under the consideration of Cabinet, and the Government is awaiting fuller details of the scheme promised by the deputation from the Flaxiikners' Association which recently waited on the Minister of Agriculture. TRAMWAYS BILL.
The Labour Bills Committee recommended that the Tramways _Bill be allowed to proceed, WATERSIDE WORKERS. The Committee reported on the petition of Auckland waterside workers, praying that the Governmentshould set up a Royal Commission and take evidence \o completely justify the status, name and honour of the watet'side workers in the Dominion, The petition was the outcome of the recent award in the waterside workers dispute, which had a memo attached referring to pilfering. This was held to be a reflection on the honesty of the waterside workers. The Committee recommended the matter to the Government for favourable consideration. A long discussion ensued, during which Judge Sims' tag to the award was condemned by Messrs Poole, McLaren, Hogan, Laurenson, and Taylor (Chvi&tchurch). The report was adopted. THE HINE CHARGES. Mr Hanan, Chairman of the Committee which is inve&tig'atng the charges made by Mr Hine, moved that the time originally fixed for the report be extended till the 19th nist, The motion was agreed to. The remainder of the afternoon sitting was devoted to a discussion on the answers to questions. The House rose at 5 30 p.m.
