MAURICEVILLE WEST.

Now that the trying winds and other unfavourable climatic conditions have given way to more seasonable weather, the grass is making rapid growth, stock are picking up in condition, and a season, which looked anything but promising a while back, has now a very different appearance. An epidemic of influenza is going the rounds in this vicinity. In some cases the victims are laid up for some days. Shearing has commenced, but no record clips have so far been reported. If the weather holds fine the bulk of the local clips will be railed within a week or two. If practice tells, our local team ot cricketers ought to fare well this season. Young and old alike may be seen wielding a hat over home-made pitches, while a regular week-end practice is indulged in.
