WAINGAWA FREEZING WORKS.
o . WILL THEY BE OFFICIALLY OPENED?
A gentleman from the South Island, who is interested in freezing works-, was in Masterton yesterday. He. stated that he was delighted with the general arrangement and equipment of the Waingawa works. He is_of opinion that the works will ho a great boon to farmers, and to the district. When informed that it was not proposed to have an official opening of the works, lie. expressed surprise. He pointed out that in the South Island, the opening of the various freezing works was made the. occasion for enthusiastic demonstrations among the farmers, and lie said it would he a great pity if no such celebration were made in Masterton. The matter is one which the Directors of the Company have themselves to decide, but the visitor thought that the Chamber of Commerce should join in the demonstration, as they did at Nelson and in other places.
