The liner Kurdistan, a steel-screw steamer of 3063 tons gross, owned by the Hindustan Steam Shipping Company, Ltd., foundered 460 miles off the Scilly Isles, while journeying from Manchester to Marseilles. Of forty-eight crew and passengers only two were rescued.
