HOME MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and .Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the folloing cablegram from their London house: —W r e quote present spot values for the following descriptions of tallow.—Fine mutton 40s per cwt,, good beef 39s 3d per cwt., mixed 38s per cwt. Market firm. Wheat.—We quote c.i.f. 365, Australian cargo. Market weak with lower tendency. Very little demand owing to increased supplies. Heavy stocks. Market prospects Continent likely to decline. We quote per quarter c.i.f. New Zealand wheat, longberried 31s, short-berried 30s (3d. Oats.— Cartons 18s, Sparrowbills, 17s. Market very dull. Outlook discouraging.

FROZEN MEAT

Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., hare received the following cable from their London house, dated 3rd inst. .-—Beef.—No demand for I New Zealand, and River Plate of good quality is offering at low prices. | We quote.—N.Z. ox fores ' 2j}d and j hinds 3J-d per lb. Lamb.—N.Z. prei sent high prices are caused by a ' temporary shortage and demand is hunted, while enquiry for Australian is moderate. We quote.—N.Z. prime crossbred lamb, heavy s*d per lb, light 53d per lb; North Island, heavy sd, light skl. Australian good average quality crossbred lamb heavy 4jkl, light 4kl. Mutton.—N.z' demand is poor owing to present high prices, which are caused by temporary shortage. We quote:—N.Z prime crossbred Canterbury, heavy 3kl per lb; light 4 : kl per lb; North Island, heavy 3|d, light 3«d; prime Australian crossbred, heavy 3kl per lb; light 3gd per lb. Business generally for frozen meat is quiet.

WELLINGTON WOOL, SKIN, HIDES AND TALLOW I SALES. Messrs Levin and Co. report as follows, regarding Friday's sale : AVe held our fortnightly 'sale to-day, when we offered a small quantity of wool, 2000 sheepskins, 1300 hides'and calfskins, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a good attendance of buyers. We quote •-» Crossbred, 6kl to 8kl; lambs' wool, 6-kl to 8d; pieces and bellies, 4d to okl; locks, 2kl to 4kl; dead wool, 6kl to 8d; crutchings, 4d to 6d. Skins.—Dry skins continue on the down grade, and were quite a farthing down from last sales' prices, but green skins held their own fairly well. We quote.— Fine crossbred, <jd to 7;|d ; medium crossbred,s 7d to 'kl; coarse crossbreds, 6d to 7d ■ dead hoggets, 5d to 6d ; lambskins,' skl to Gkl; quarter to half wools, 4kl to (id; dry pelts, 2kl to 3kl •

green skins, 5s 2d to 8s; spring lambs, Is to Is 7d. Tallow.— Continues firm. Parcels in shipping order £3O 10s; tins, £23 to £2B 10s; rough fat, £ls to £2O. Horsehair: Is to Is 8d per lb. Horns: 5s to 19s per hundred. Cowtails: Is 8d per dozen. Hides:—Ox hides were steady at last sale's rates, but cows and kips sold better than for some time past. Calfskins were firm at last sales' prices. We quote:—Oxhides, heavy 7d to 7,' d, medium 6kl to 7d, light &IA to 6-jj-d; cow hides, Cd to 6"d; cut and slippy hides, 3d to o.Jd; stag hides, 4d to skl; bull hides, 4d to s|d; yearlings, Cd to G:|d : calf best, 9d to 9-Jcl: calf medium, 7-kl to 8kl; calf cut and slippy, 4,kl to"6d.

.Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their sale held on Friday as. follows : —We offered a large catalogue to a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was keen all round. Skins were about on a par with last sales' rates, whilst hides were higher by fully a halfpenny per lb. We quote:—Wool.—Only bags offered. Bellies and pieces, 4-kl to 5;kl; dead, 7-kl to 7£d; rough crossbred, 7kl. Skins.—Coarse crossbred, 6kl to 7d; medium crossbred, 7kl; dead, s : kl to 5-Jd; half-wools, 5d to 6d: inferior and short, 3id to 5f d; butchers' half dry and green, best 7s Cd to Bs, lighter 6s 6d to 7s, light 5s 9d to 6s; lambs, Is 4d to Is 7cl; pelts, Is 6d. Hides.—No heavy ox offered; meclium ox, 6!} d to 7kl, light ox, Ggd; medium cows, Gkl to 6jkl; inferior light, 6kl; cows cut, 5-kl; best calf, B§d to 9;jd; light, Bkl to 8kl; damaged calf, 4kl to 6j}d. Tallow.—Good 30s per cwt in tins; fair 25s (3d per cwt, medium 22s per cwt, inferior 20s cwt.
