AMUSEMENTS.
THOMPSON-PAYNE PIGTURES. The audience at the Foresters' Hall last evening was numerous and emphatic in its appreciation of the series of pictures shown by*Messis Thompson and Payne. The "star" film, "In a Mining District," is one of the most sensational pictures ever produced on a screen, and shows the explosion of fire damp, flooding of a mine, rescuing of imprisoned miners, and the sad scenes which take place round the mouth of the pit as the dead are brought up from below. This msgnificent picture, which is produced to the best advantage by a skilled operator, is supported by strong dramatic subjects, the most popular with the audience being "Honour Saved" and "Plucky Youngsters." A line lot of comics are also shown. The usual children's matinee will take place this afternoon, and the present programme will be repeated for the last time tonight.
