CASTLEPOINT COUNTY COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Council was held on Saturday last, when all the members were present. The following correspondence was read:— From Mr Barton, with tracing of gravel reserve. From Mr Maunsell, re Whareama river, and cutting new channel. From the District Health Officer, on decayed buildings being unfit for habitation, and should be pulled down. From the Marine Department, re jarrah timber being unsuitable for jetty, and recommending totara instead. From Gawith and Logan, re proclamation in connection with Mrs Cox's section being taken for a roadman's residence. From Masterton County Council, re deviating the road at the old sawmill, and Devil's Elbow, with estimates of cost, which the Council declined to assist in. 'I he question of good 3 being left for a length cf time at the landing shed at Castlepoint' was brought up, a id it was decided to get information as to regulations at other places in respect to goods left an indefinite period. The Clerk was directed to have the Dump press removed from the shed at Castlepoint forthwith, and arrange to have the survey made of the piece of land for a roadman's residence at the terrace.

'J he resolution passed on the 30th July, giving notice of the intention of the Council to levy a general rate of 9-Bth of a penny in the pound was revoked, and a general rate of one penny in the pound was made. Councillors Langdon and Andrew were appointed to sign the Kate Books.

Ihe road overseer's report was read and dealt with, and accounts amounting to £245 19s Id were passed for payment.
