SWIMMING CLUB.
OPENING OF SEASON. The first race in connection with the Wairarapa Amateur Swimming Club took place on the Park Lake last evening. Owing to the cold snap recently experienced in Masterton, the temperature of the Lake was such as would not induce many swimmers to enter for the first event. There was, however, a very fair attendance, including a number of ladies. The following is the result of the race:— FIFTY YARDS. A. Miller, Ivd ... 1 F. Phillips, scr. ... 2 G. Peters, 9yds ... 3 A very close race. Mr J. McEwen acted as handicapper.
