LONDON MARKETS. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Commerce and Tourists Division of the Department of Agriculture, Commerce and Tourists lias received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for* New Zealand, dated London, October 29, 1910. Quotation, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot:— Mutton.—-The market is a shade weaker. Canterbury 4}d, North Island 4d per lb. Lamb.—The market is very firm. Canterbury 5:1(1, other than Canterbury skl per lb. Beef.—The market is dull, and the supply exceeds the demand. New Zealand hinds 3sd, fores 2-Jd per lb. Butter.—The market is lifeless. A large supply of second class quality on hand affects the market very seriously. The shipment of butter ex lonic arrived in good condition. Choicest New Zealand butter to-day is 112s (this seasons), choicest New Zealand butter (stored) to-dav is 109s, Australian 109s, Danish'llss Siberian 104s. Chese.—The market is firm, but demand only moderate; Canadian 575. Hemp.—The market is lifeless. No change in prices, viz., New Zealand good fair on spot per ton, £24 10s; fair grade, £2l 10s; fair current Manila, £2l. Forward shipment— New Zealand good fair, £24 10s; fair grade, £2l 10s; fair current Manila, £2O ss. The output from Manila for -ie week was 26,000 Kauri Gum.—The market is quiet, and prices slightly weaker. Ordinary to fair, three-quarters scraped, £B-ss; fair, half-scraped £5 2s 6d; brown fair, half to three-quarter scraped, 90s; brown pickings, common to good, 50s; bush, fair to good, pale, and amber scraped, £8 10s. Wool.—The market is steady, with a very good demand. PALMERSTO*. CATTLE FAIR. (By Telegraph—Special to the Age.) PALMERS'j JN N., Last Night, Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—At our annual cattle fair at Palmerston North on Tuesday, the Ist November, close on 3000 head of cattle were yarded. Competition for grown bullocks was particularly keen, and every pen was sold. Bidding for several pens of the rougher sorts of young cattle dragged slightly, but any lines that were passed soon found buyers, and at the end of the day only 200 head of the total yarding went out unsold. Quotations : Forward bullocks, £6 13s to £7 Is; 3yr bullocks, £5 10s to £8; 2yr steers, £4 10s to £4 12s; yearling steers, £3 ss' to £3 10s; well-bred Shorthorn yearling steers, on account of Wilson Bros., Santoft, £3 17s; yearling Hereford steers, on account of same owners, £3 19s; rough yearling steers, £2 15s to £3; 15-months dairy heifers, £2 18s 6d to £3 10s; 15-months halfbred Jersey heifers, £3 18s to £4 6s; 2yr dairy heifers, £4 13s to £5 Is; sinall yearling steers, £2 9s to £2 12s (M; weaners, 2Sa to 395; fat cows (prime) £8 13s ; fat cows (light) £5 15s to £0 2s 6d; forward cows, £3 15s to £4 5s Gd; 2yr Hereford heifers, £4 8s; store cows, £2 to £3 13s.
