Received Mondav, 8.15 a.m. CAPETOWN, Octobtr3o. 'lhe Hon, A. Fisher, Premier of the Australian Commonwealth, has arrived here. Interviewed by Keuter's correspondent, Mr Fisher conveyed greetings from the Australian people, and said: "We are delighted with what South Africa has done, and are sure you are on right lines. We wish you every possible success." 'lhe Hon. F. a". iVialan, Minister of Education, and local Labourites welcomed Messrs Fisher and Fowlds. and the latter was presented with an address. DUKE OF CONNAUGHT ARRIVES A GREAT RECEPTION. (Received Last Night, 9.20 o'clock.) CAPETOWN, October 31. The steamer Balmoral Castle with the Duke, Duchess and Princess Patricia of Connaught aboard, arrived at the entrance of the Bay this morning, during a heavy fog, The entry was delayed until the fog had lifted.
The flagship, H.M.S. Hermes, which had been in constant touch with the Balmoral Castle by wireless, reported that all was well. As she entered thenar bow the cruisers Hermes and Forte, and the German cruiser Sperbcr, dressed in bunting, fired the Royal salute, and the massed bands on the Hermes piayed the National anthem. The 'landing takes place at 11 o'clock, when a public reception will be held in the City Hall.. The Gov-ernor-General opens Parliament at noon for the transmission of preliminary business, but the Royal opening will not be held until Friday. Members of the Governor-Gener-al's and Lord Methuen's staffs hoarded the Balmoral Castle on her arrival. 'Subsequently Lord Methuen, the Naval and Military Commanders, heads of the administration, and the Mayor, visited the Royal party. Lord and Lady Gladstone, General and Mrs Botha,'and Ministers, went aboard later. STREETS MAGNIFICENTLY DECORATED. DENSE CROWDS. (Received This Morning, 1.5 o'clock.) . CAPETOWN, Oct. 31. The Royal party landed and drove to the City Hall, accompanied by Hussars, through dense cheering crowds. The streets are magnificently decorated. Lord Gladstone headed the procession, and was escorted by a company of Cape Mounted Rifles. The Mayor welcome dtho Duke of Connaught at the City Hall, which was crowded with distinguished South Africans and overseas visitors. Hon. G. Fowlds, New Zealand's representative, was amongst those received aboard the Balmoral Castle.
