AMUSEMENTS.
THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.
The popularity of Messrs Thompson and Payne's picture entertainment was again exemplified, last evening, when the Foresters' Hall was crowded with a critical audience, which was lavish in its praise of the bill-of-fare provided. The programme presented worthily sustained the high reputation which the firm has gained in.Masterton for the excellence of its entertainments. Dramatic studies were in strong force, "Bradford's Claim," "Flossie's Theft," "In the Great North-West," and "A Child of the Ghetto" being subjects to suit all tastes. The stoic could not resist laughter at the comics presented, the pick of which, "The Little Doctor of Foothills," was a "screamer," though "Playing Truant," "Mugwump's Baby," and "Ma's New Dodge" also caused much merriment. The military tournament of the Seventh Queen's Hussars" was a capital film, while "Tobacco-growing" was highly instructive; The other pictures went to, make up a most enjoyable evening's entertainment. The same programme, together with additional subjects, will be shown to-night.
