TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

MONTHLY MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Managers was held m the Technical School at 8 p.m. on Friday evening. There were present—Messrs C. E. Daniell, in the chair. W.,H. Jackson, E. H. Waddington, and Rev. Dean McKenna.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer's report for the month was as follows:—Receipts, including balance from last meeting, of £59, 5s 2d, totalled £73 17s 8d; expenditure, including salaries to instructors for the term, amounted to £l6B 13s sd.

A letter was received from the Department intimating that capitation in respect of classes during the second term, amounting to £52 14s 3d, had been passed for payment. The Department also staled that certain alterations in the timetable of classes had been noted and approved. In reference to Mr Quinnell's application to inaugurate classes in veterinary science, it was resolved that the Managers will, if sufficient support is forthcoming, arrange for the conduct of a course of lectures in veterinary science when drafting the programme for next, year's classes.

The matter of running a course of wool classes at Te Wharau next season was also discussed, and it was ultimately decided that if the residents of that district will guarantee a sum sufficient to cover the cost of the instructor's salary and travelling expenses, the Managers will make arrangement for their instructor to make periodical visits to Te Wharau.

Accounts, amounting to 18s, were passed for payment. The New Zealand University and the Education Department were granted the use of the class-rooms for examination purposes at the usual rates.

It was decided, in connection with these examinations, that the supervisors be requested on no account to allow candidates to enter the building an inordinate time before their examination commences.
