THE COCOS ISLANDS ESTATE.

A POSSIBLE CLAIMANT. Lord Skerrington, at" Edinburgh, on September 7th, heard counsel in a petition and answers relating to the bankruptcy of Edwin Rowland Clunies Ross, whose late father was chief of the Cocos Islands in the South Indian Ocean. The petition was at the instance of Mr Davidson Hall, an accountant of Glasgow, who, in 1908, was appointed trustees in the sequestrated estate of E. R. Clunios Ross. The latter lived for a time in Argyllshire, but in 1908 went to Australia, leaving neither an address nor a representative in Scot-

land. Mr Hall asked for an order vesting in himself the whole of E. R. Clunies Ross's interest in the estate of his father, who died recently at Yentnor, lsle of Wight, leaving personal estate of £208,000. In granting the petition, Lord Skerrington said it was the duty of the bankrupt to leave someone to represent his interests.

Reference was recently made to a son of the late King of the Cocos Islands, who was alleged to be residing in New Zealand, in indigent circumstances. It may be that this is the person referred to above.
