A DISASTROUS FROST.
The frost of Monday night lias spelt disaster to the • orehardists of Hawke's Bay, from whence a large portion of the North Island supplies of stone fruit have been drawn in recent years. The full extent of the losses can hardly yet be ascertained,, but when it is stated that the peach crop of Frimley b:.ss been absolutely, ruined, some idea of the havoc that has been wrought may be gained. The special representative of the Age suggests that something will require to be done to protect orchards against future decimation by .frosts, and in this connection it might be well if the Fruitgrowers' Conference, which, singularly enough, is at present sitting in Hastings, were to make representations upon the subject. „
