GERMAN SHIPBUILDERS. [ AGREEMENT COME TO. Received October 10, 9 a.m. BERLIN, October 9. At a conference between employers and employees of the private German shipbulding yards it was agreed to end the strike. 'I he men obtained material concessions, but abandoned their demand for an all-round fifty-three hours a week.
Wages have been increased from 4 to 5 per cent, instead of the 10 per cent, demanded.
STRIKE ON A FRENCH RAILWAY. Received PARIS, October 9. Five hundred men employed on the Northern of France railway have struck work. ' Ihe passenger traffic is unaffected. LONDON, October 9. Reuter's Agency reports that the strike on the North of France railway is spreading. Soldiers are acting as drivers and stokers.
NOTICE WITHHELD. Received October 10, 8.50 a.m. LONDON, October 9. The enginemen at the Scottish collieries, who had announced ttheir intention to cease work in a fortnight unless they were granted an eighthour clay, have withheld their notice pending an interview with the colliery owners.
