MANAWATU SHOW.
The munificent sum of £IOO offered by Mr E. Short for the Romneyßam clas3 at the Manawatu Show promises to provide the keenest con test in the Romney sheep section yet witnessed in the Dominion. The ram must be between the ages of two and four years and is to be judged first in the wool and then shorn. Different judges take the ram shorn and unshorn. The Romney section at the Spring Show has usually drawn 160 to 190 entries, and with the additional Short class the display this year will be of great magnitude and ahead of any similar breed shown in the Dominion. Entries are already coming to hand and there will be some guessing as to the first prize winner, who gets £SO. Southern breeders are getting entries in for sheep this year. In one breed alone there will be big entries. The demand for breeding sheep in this Island is very keen, buyers having been through the district from the back-blocks several months ago, booking for the autumn breed. Bi'eeders are keen to maintain show reputation. Everything points to a very fine display from the best flocks in the North Island.
