THE DANGEROUS PEARIFLE.

ANGLER HAS A SCARE.

The danger of the careless handling of pea-rifles by boys was again demonstrated in Masterton on Saturday, when an angler, who was fishing in the Waipoua river, felt two or three pellets pass in dangerous proximity to his head. The fisherman, who was considerably scared, made a search of the neighbourhood, and found two boys shooting at a tree. It may be stated that it is an offence under the law for a boy under sixteen years of age to either carry firearms or to be supplied with them. Sergeant Miller is making inquiries concerning Saturday's incident, and a prosecution ib likely to follow.
