MR. PERRY'S OFFER.

The Government has agreed to accept the oiler of ten acres of laud, made by Mr. William Perry, but only on condition that the labour required to conduct the experiments is provided privately. This practically means that the offer must fall through, and that if Mr. Perry or any other person wishes to make experiments, they must do sO at their own expense. It is very good of the Department to undertake to accept land on the terms specified in Mr. Clifton's letter; but it would have been more business-like if the Department had said straight out that it had no money to expend upon experiments.
