Lady Ranfurly contemplates a visit to New Zealand, but nothing definite is settled yet. The Dunedin Presbytery yesterday morning nominaed the Rev. P. B. Fraser as Moderator of the next Assembly in 1911. Mr and Mrs A. AY. Sedcole and Miss Sedcole are leaving Pahiatua shortly on an extended- trip to the Old Country. The friends of Mr and Mrs E. R. B. Daniell, of Masterton, will regret to hear of the death qf their infant child. Steps are being taken to recognise suitably the services of Bishop Neligan during the period of his episcopacy in the Auckland diocese. Bishop Neligan, says the Star, will leave Auckland about the middle of the present month for Wellington, whence he will depart for England. Mr Gilbert Carson, of Wanganui, has been re-elected without opposition as —e representative of the Taranaki, Wanganui, Hawke's Bay, Nelson, Marlborough, Westland, and Grey Education Boards, on the committee of the Wellington Training College.
John S. Goodwin, ex-Inspector of Schools for Ancbkland, who has been acting temporarily as Inspector of Roman Catholic Schools, has been found dead in Andrews' stables, at Otahuhu.
On .Friday last the elder daughter of Mr T. B. Hundley, of Masterton, died in New Plymouth, at the age of 28 years. Friday was deceased's birthday—a sad coincidence.
Mr H. S. Bird, a well-known identity in shipping circles of Sydney, died at his residence, "Welbeck," Margaret Street, Strathfield, on Sunday last. The deceased gentleman, who was in his 86th year, was connected with the shipping business as far back as 18G0, when he
inaugurated the firm of 11. S. Bird and Co.
