The Times' Athena correspondent reports that the situation is one cf extreme gravity.
The redpoiisibUity for peaca or war resta upon the irresponsible "Young Turkish Party Committees, which are practically controlling the Army. Chauvinistic officers favour the occupation of Thessaly as a hostage for the settlement of the Cretan claim.
The Greek Government has hurriedly vacatad three Cretan seats in the Assembly, in order to deprive the, Turks of any excuse for aggression.
