Carterton.
There were nine births, four deaths, and two marriages registered in Carterton last month. A number of farmers have adopted the "Suddeth" fumigators fpr the destruction of rabbits, and they are reported to be working very successfully. A meeting convened by his Worship the Mayor (Mr J. A. Dudson) 1 is to be held here on Monday evening, to consider the question of once establishing swimming baths. At the annual meeting of the Tararua Tennis Club, the report and balance-sheet was adopted. Officers as under were elected: —President, Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P. ; VicePresidents, Messrs W. Howard Booth, H. R. Bunny, H. H. "VVolters, and the Rev. R. Young; Committee, Mrs J. M. Lightfoot, Misses Deller, C. Booth, Messrs T. E. Maunsell, A. W. Burns, and R. W. Jackson ; treasurer, Mr B. Trapp; auditor, Mr W. C. Deller. Eight new members were elected, and the courts will probably do opened on Saturday next.
