AUSTRALIAN SHEARERS.
COMING TO NEW.ZEALAND.
It was recently stated that a Masterton shearer had brought the following message to New Zealand shearers from the President of the Australian Workers' Union:—"You can tell them that there will be no Australian shearers coming to New Zealand this year,-as we have not got enough to fill our own sheds over here." A Dunedin labour agent, interviewed in reference to the above, told a different tale. He said that never before in his experience had so many applications for "stands" in New Zealand been made by Australian shearers. Although work wili not start for another six weeks, he had already made engagements with men from Australia to fill several' machine sheds. As things stand at present, he considers thel'e will be no difficulty in getting shearers sufficient to meet all retirements. " r' ;
