Received Last Night, 9.30 o'clock LONDON, September 23.
The Hon. Gerald Fiennes, in an article in the Daily Graphic, referring to the Commonwealth destroyers, says that the first ships of ibe Imperial.Navy are now en route for their station.
Although tho event has attracted little attention, it is epoch-making. Australia ami New Zealand will soon ba in a pua'.tion to make a serious contributicn to the force of the Empire in a part of the world where a naval force will ba required in a very few years. The fact that the Australian de-
strnyers arc ocean-going, proves that the overseas Dominions are not influenced by tho narrow views of local defence. Mr Fiennea condemns tha small Canadian cruisers as valueless to Canada and the Empire.
