MONTHLY MEETING. <
Jj The monthly meeting of the Laos, downe School Committee waß held last evening. There were present— Messrs- E; Hale (chairman), H. E. qoariell, D; -A? Pickering, F- B i Welch, and J..'; Perry. Apologies far| absence were received from Messrs P. M. Compton, and E. Welch. The secretary was instructed to, write fo the Education Board aaKingr their consent to lease sections 8 and 9 from the School Commissioners.
A hearty vote of thanks was I passed to Mr A. W. Hogg for his services in connection with the extension of the school ground. ~.'■ It was resolved to hold a concert on October 14th in the school in aid of tbe»piano fund, and Messrs Hale, F. P. Welch, E/Welch and R. U D.rummond were appointed a programma committee. The headmaster's report on the attendance for the quarter ended September 16th stated that there were 136 pupils out of an average roll of 156, the percentage being 88, and the number on the roll 161. Wet t weather and , bickness were reapon- 1 j sible for the poor average attendance for the quarter. Miss G. Haggett, assistant teacher, had reported for duty on September 12th.
