CARTERTON.
The Otago football representatives arrived here by the midday train yesterday, and were met at the railway station by prominent members of the Wairarapa.Rubgy Union. They were driven to the Marquis of Normanby Hotel, where they are staying. In the afternoon they held a practice. Mr Werzal H. Collie, organist of St. Thomas Church, Wellington, gave an organ recital in St. Mark's Church on Tuesday evening, when there was a fair congregation. A varied programme was rendered, the pleasing lumbers being ] March," Batiste; "Serenade," Schu- : bert; and the "Christmas March," Meikel. The Otago football team to play Wairarapa here to-day is:—Backs: Scott,; Chambers, Graham, Eardirgham, Eckhold, ' Keilan, McDougall. Forwards: Scott, P. Williams, Graham, Paton, Patterson, Salter, Sheehan, Ivimey. The news reached here yesterday that a young man, well-known locally, named Arthur Collier, was killed at Otaki ou Tuesday afernoon through being struck on the head by a stone while road making. Mr W. M. Singleton, dairy instructor, has been on a visit to tr.e district this week.
The Wairarapa members of the Wanganui College Old Boya' Association held a reunion here on Tuesday night. There was a large attendance.
The Borough Council staff is effecting improvements to Wakelin Street, with a view of remedying the nuisance occasioned residents in the locality in wet weather through tha water being unable to get away. A meeting to further the Carterton Egg Circle movement takts place. ..this evening.
