"MOTHER'S DAY."
, The spirit which has pioxi-pced the various branches of the Y.M.C.A. in New Zealand to institute a"Mother's Day," is worthy of all commendation. - It is to be feared that in the present generation there is not to be found that parental affection, that reverence for seniority which once brightened the precincts of the I home. The youth of to-day are, un- j happily, prone to waywardness and j lack of discipline. That this is calculated to destroy the manhood of I j our people and to lower the moral standard of the community is self- | evident. Without entering into a discussion of the causes which have contributed to lack of veneration, • one. can only express admiration for a movement which is designed to restore, in a measure, the filial affections which go to make life worth living?
