COW TESTING ASSOCIATION.
MOVEMENT BY RONGOKOKAKO DAIRYMEN. At the annual meeting of share holders of the Rongonokako Cheese Company on Thursday, Mr B. Morris moved that the Government be approached with a view to having a cbw testing association formed in the Eketahuna district. In speaking to the motion, Mr Morris pointed to Denmark as an example of what testing associations had accomplished. If dairymen wished to get the best results, he said, the testing of individual cows was imperative. The Government had instituted an association at Dalefield witn marked success and anothsr might be started I here on similar lines. Mr S. Priest contended the Government would do nothing for nothing, and dairymen would have to bear a further burden of taxation if the association was instituted. Mr Morris considered that even if the Government was to impose a tax the money could not be better invested, as the knowledge to be derived would vastly improve the position of milk suppliers. Mr J. Hare seconded the motion, and in doing so said greater satisfaction would be given by the Government undertaking the testing, as the official appointed would be an entirely disinterested person. They should rot fear a tax, as it was the duty of a paternal Government tD assist thef development of primary I products, and a cow testing association went a long way towards do-
ing this. ; After other shareholders had spoken, the motion was put and carried, there being two dissentients.—Express.
