CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

PROGRAMME OF FIXTURES.

(Special to the Age.)

The New Zealand Ladies' Hockey Championship Tournament commenced at Nelson yesterday afternoon, and extends until Saturday, the 10th September. According to the rules of the tourney, for the first seven days each team will play one another. The four teams then with the greatest number of points will play each other; and the team with the greatest number of points in all matches played will be the winners of the tournament. In the event of any team tieing for the first four positions after the seven days' clay, such teams will play off until four Seams have a clear lead. Two trophies have been offered by Mrs Rhodes, vice-president of the Wellington Association, for the two best players (back and forward) in the tournament. The fixtures of the tournament are appended:— First day, 31st August: Greymouth v. Taranaki, Wairarapa v Wanganui, Auckland v. Wellington B, Otago v. Hawke's Bay, Weetport v. Neteon, Wellington A a bye. Second day, Ist September: Otago v. Wellington A, Wairarapa v. Westport, Nelson v. Greymouth, Wellington B v. Wangar.ui, Auckland v. Hawke's Bay, Taranaki a bye. Third day, 2nd September: Westport v. Greymouth, Wairarapa v. Wellington B, Taranaki v. Auckland, I Hawke's Bay v. Wellington A, Nel-J son v. Otago, Wanganui n bye [

Fourth day, 3rd September: Wanganui v. Taranaki. Westpoit v. Wellington A, Greymouth v. Otago, Auckland v. Nelson, Wairarapa v. Hawke's Bay, Wellington B a bye. Fifth day, sth September: Graymouth v. Auckland, Weatport v. Hawke's Bay, Wellington A v. Wanganui, Tafranaki v. Wairarapa, Wellington B v. Otago, Nelson a bye. Sixth day, 6th September: Wellington A v. Wellington B, Nelson v. Wanganui, Weatport Taranaki, Auckland v. Wairarapa, Greymouth v. Hawke's Bay, Otago a bye. Seventh day, 7th September: Weatport v. Otago, Wellington B v. Greymouth, Wanganui v. Auckland, Wellington A v. Nelson, Hawke's Bay v..'laranaki; Wairarapa a bye. Eight and ninth days, Bth and yth September: Semi-finals. Tenth day, 10th September: Final match of the tournament, on conclusion which the championship cup will be presented to the winner.
