WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY.
BETWEEN NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA.
LETTER BY SIR JOSEPH WARD
Received Last Night; 11.50 p.m. MELBOURNE. August 30.
Hon. T. Batchelor, Federal Minister for Post and Telegraphs, has received a letter from Sir Joseph Ward in regard to the radio-tele-graphy conference held at Melbourne last year,, in which ha says that the New Zealand Government views the proposal with much interest, and is desirous of promoting it. It is proposed to ask for funds for stations in New Zealand, and also for a proportionate share of one sixth of the Fijian station. He says thac wireless communication is considered by his Government espsciaily important in regard to facilitating the movements of the -Navy as well as being of importance to the mercantile marine. Sir Joseph mentions that tendera have been called by New Zealand in view of ascertaining tne cost of establishing stations.
