SALES.

" The New Zealand Loan and Me.cantile Agency Co., Ltd., rejwrt as follows: —At our fortnightly sale on Friday we offered about 30 bales wool, 2100 skins; also hides, calfskins, rabbit skins, and tallow. There was keen competition from a good attandance of buyers, and [prices for wool were higher by id per lb, sheepskins id to |d,and hidss id to Jd per lb than last sales. We quote:—Wool —Merino medium, Bgd; halfbred, i inferior, 9d; crossbred, fine, lOJd; pieces, 5Jd to 6d; pieces, inferior, 3d 10 3£d; crutchings, good. 5Jd to 6d; crutchinge, inferior ».--d seedy 3d to sd. Sheepskins.—Meri v. >, sound. sjd to 7Jd; merino, damage. 2|d to 4£d; halfbred, 9d; crossb ;-1, medium to fine, 8d to B£d; cr sabred, coarse, 7d to 7|d; dead s£d to 7§d; broken, 2gd to 3gd. Hides-Ox, medium, 6Jd; cow and light ox, s£d to 6d; faulty hides, 33 to s§d; calfskins, sound, Bgd to 9d; calfskins, damaged, dto 6Jd; horsehides, 10s each. Tallow —ln tins, 24a 3d per cwt.

Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding their sale: —We held our fortnightly sale on Friday, when we offered 20 ba!es"of wool, 1100 sheepskins,' 1050 hides and calfskins, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a good attendance of buyers. Wool—Sold generally on a par with recent prices, with crutchings in better demand. We Fine crossbred, 8d lo 9£d; coarse crossbred, 6Jd to 7fd; Jambs wool, 6£d to 8d; pieces and bellies, 4d to sd; locks, crutchings, 4d to 6Jd. Skins.—Dry akius showed a rise of id per lb, while green skins were in good demand at better prices. We quoteFine crossbreds, 8d to B|d; medium crossbreds, 7d to B£d; coarse crossbreds, 6d to 7gd; dead hoggets, 5d to 6|d; lambskins, s|d to 7|d; quarter to half wools, 4Jd to 6fd; dry pelts, 2Jd to 5Jd; green skins, 5s 8d to 8s 2d each; iamb skins, 2s 6d to 4s 9d each. Tallow was very firm. Parcels in shipping order £2B. Tins £2O to £24 ss. Rough fat £lO to £ 19 ss. Horsehair, Is to Is 6d per lb. Horns, 5s to\lss per hundred. Cowtails, Is 6d per dozen. Hides occasionally showed an upward tendency, amounting in some cases to a halfpenny per lb. Calfskins were firm at Jaat sale's prices. We quote:—Ox hides, heavy, 6Jd to 7|d; ox hides, medium, 6£d to 6gd; ox hides, light, s|d to 6§d; cow hides, 5Jd to to 6£d; cut and slippy hides, 3d to 5Jd stag hides', 4d to s£d; bull hides, 4d to sgd; yearlings, 5d to 6|d; calf, best, 9d to 9£d; calf, medium, 7Jd to BJd; calf, cut and slippy, 5d to 7d.

Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., Wellington, report on their sale as follows:—We offered a good catalogue to a large attendance of buyers. Bidding was keen for everything offered, .skins and hides being firm übstantial advance on last sale prices. We quote:—Wool — Rough crossbred, 7Jd; good crutchings, medium crutchings, s£d to s|d; second crutchings, 4Jd to 4fd. Skins—Fine crossbred, 8&d to Bfd; medium crossbred, 8d to B£d; h coarse crossbred, 7fd; lambs, 7Jd; dead, 6fd; short and inferior, 4|d to s£d; butchers half dry and green, heavy, 8s 4d to 9a 2d; medium, 7a 4d to 7s lid; ;light, 6s 6dto7s; lambs, 4s lid to 5s lid. Hides—No heavy ox offering. Medium ox, 6|d to 6|d; light, 6d; neavy cows. 6d; light to medium, sgd; calf, BJd to 9Jd; damaged, 53jd to Id. Tallow, in tins, 22s to 24s 3d per cwt.

HOME MARKETS. Messrs Dalgety and Co,, Ltd. report having received the following cable advice from their London House, under date of 251 h inst. . Frozen Mutton and Lamb. —Holders are firm; there is a poor demand, and prices are unchanged. Beef.— One farthing per lb lower.
