PRESENTED WITH A TESIIMUNI A L.

Advantage was taken of the presence in Masterton on Saturday last of Mr W. G. Taylor, M.K.C.V.S., who was previously in private practice in this district, j[but who now occupies an important position in the Agricultural IVpaitment in Wellington, to present that gentleman wuh an illuminated address, which had been subscribed to by about fifty settlers. De&pite the fact that the meeting had been hurriedly called, between thirty and forty farmers met at trie Farmers' and Comm rcial Club, where tiie presentation made. . i

His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. M. Coradine), who occupied the chair, stated that he had been atked by a number of the friends of Mr Taylor to make the presentation. He had heard Mr Taylor spoken of, not only as a worthy ritizen, bat an an exceedingly clever and courteous veterinarian. He asked him to accept the address, not so much for its intrinsic value a& for the good feeling that had prompted thr-se who had subscribed to it. (Applause.) I The address was as follows:—''On the occasion pJryVur'Jea'vi) g the'dial .jtri.ct,. we, the undersigned., settlers; consider it a fitting opportunity tol give expression of our appreciation of your services in the practice of. your profession. We can, with corf fidence, place on record that dt T ;ng your residence here you earned general approval for the ability which you displayed in carrying out the, onerous duties of a veterinary surgeon "White., we regret your deparwe shall, always be pleased to hear of your progress and future advancement. In conclusion, we wish, you and yours continued health arid happiness, atid that you may always look back* upon your residence amongst us with pleasure."
