The owners of Master Soult anticipate starting the borse in the Melbourne Cup. The son of Soult 13 to race at the A.J.C. meeting ri3Xt month, ai;d it depends upon how he shapes whether he will be taken to Flcmingtor. Several accidents to riders occurred at Riccaiton on Saturday. The most Berious injuries were sustained by H. Telford, who dislocated his shoulder when Tauira fell in the Sydenham Hurdles, and by T Pritchard, who fractured his collarbone when Kal tere came down in the Lincoln Steeplechase. G. A. Pine and Rangi Thomson escaped with minor injuries when their mounts fell.

Another highly bred mare, Curetta, by Hotchkiss—Edith Cureton, realised only 30 guineas. The Auckland three year olds, Apellon and Ashby, are in slow work at Ellerslie. Both are engaged in the New Zealand Cup. The Canterbury Jock°y Club pnid out £6390 in stakes over the Grand National meeting. This amount was distributed among no les3 thaii 46 owners. I Nero is to be given an extensive spell, and it is quite on the cards that he will be seen out next winter ini the cross country events.
