SMALL BIRDS.
The depredations of small birds are annually becoming': more serious in the Wairarapa. The toll upon the farmer, who has to re-sbw his cereals at tines, only to see empty husks when the grain is matured, is very considerable. That some systematic steps are necessary to exterminate small birds is obvious. Everybody seems to be waiting, however, for somebody else to start the cru sade. Why does the Masterton branch of the Farmers' Union not get to work? Here ib an important I undertaking it might engage in to i the advantage of all, And still it sleeps.
