MASTERTON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the General Committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon in the offices in Perry Street, there being present. Messrs W. Perry, G. Shaw, J. D. Cruickshank, G. E. Alien, J. Strang, W. D. Watson, G. C. Summered, J. M. James, W. Cooper, 0. C. Cooper, D. Caselberg, C. McKillop, R. Gray, A. D. McMaster, E. Harper, and J. P. Perry. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs H. A. Matthews, J. B. Moodie Q. Donald, R. Smith and W. J. Welch.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr J. Tait wrote acknowledging the compliment paid him by the committee in regard to the removal of buildings to the new showgrounds.

Letters were read from the International Harvester Company, P. and D. Duncan, and Bnoth, Macdonaid, and Co., in reference to the exhibition at the next Show. The latter company expressed regret that thoy would he unable to exhibit at the next show, as the results did not, in their opinion, warrant the expense. The two former companies stated that they hai not yet come to a decision in the matter. The New Zealand Sheepbreeders Association notified that a shield for competition in Border Leicesters had been allocated to the Association for the next show. On the motion of the chairman it was decided that th 3 letter be acknowledged. President pointed out that the subcommittees had not been called together that day until the last moment as the Secretary was not quite clear about the question of calling meetings. On the motion of Mr G. C. Summerell, it was decided that all sub-committees remain in office until their successors are appointed. Mr W. E. Bidwill, of Rutotawai, wrote regretting his inability to be present at the annual meeting of tbe Association, lie was very glad indeed, to see that everything was so bright with the Association. Twelve months had indeed made a change from night to day, but he said, "Nothing succeeds like success, and I am sure there is a good future before the Association."

The secretary of the Feiiding Industrial, Agricultural and Pastoral Association notified that the next show of hi 3 Association would be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, 7th and Bth February. The Central Agricultural and Pastoral Association, Waipukurau, intimated that its annual show would be held on the first day of February, 1911, and its ram fair on the 2nd. The reports of the meetings of the Experimental and Ground Committees was read. The latter committee made a recommendation in regard to the railway sidings, ram fair ring, water supply, etc. Plans were also submitted of the proposed siding and ring. It was estimated that the ccst of the fair ring would be £2OO, and of'the water supply £l5O. On the motion of the chairman thereports of the Committees were adopted.

The report of the meeting of the Finance Committee, presided over by Mr 0. C. Cooper, was read. This showed that the receipts for the month had amounted to £1,736 15s lOd, less the Bsmk balance on 30th June, and expenditure for the month amounting to £1,608 10s Bd. The credit balance at date amounted to £IOB 12s Id. It was decided that a ledger account be opened by the Railway Department, and that meetings of the Committee be held in future at 10 a.m. instead of 11 a.m.

Accounts amuuntmg to £717 5s 6d were passed for payment. The chairman of the Finance Committee stated that he was pleased to say that the Association, for the first time for twenty two years, could now show a credit balance at the Bank. The Committ3e proposed, as soon as arrangements could be made, to secure a flat mortgage on the new grounds,- and thus relieve the guarantors at the bank.

s'lhs following sub-committees were appointed for the ensuing year:— Ground Committee, Messrs W. Cooper, R. J. Dagg, Q. Donald, R. Gray, E. Harper, D. .McGregor, J. P. Perry, B. Rayner, J, Strang, C. F. Vallance, A. G. Pilmer, G. Shaw

and G. E. Allen. Finance Committee: Messrs 0. C. Cooper, J. D. Cruickshank, D. McGregor, and G. C. Summerell. Luncheon Committee: Messrs D. Caselberg, J. N. James, J. C. McKillop, A, J. Percy, and G. Shaw. Ram Fair Cummitlee: Messrs R. Cooper and W. D. Watson. Horticultural Committee*. Messrs Summerell, Harper and H. J. Dagg, with power to add to their , number. Printing Committee: Messrs J. D. Cruickshank and G. C. Summerell.

A committee consisting of Messrs Summerell, Caselberg, Moodie, and G Shaw was set up to arrange with the tradespeople in regard to half holidays, and with the livery stable keepers and others in regard to the conveyance of the public to and from the showgrounds. The President and Messrs Morrison and Summerell were appointed a sub-coramittee to conclude arrangements in regard to railway aid-

Mr R. J, Dagg suggested the appointment of a sub-committee to superintend experimental plots, field competitions, and produce exhibits. The suggestion was approved, and Messrs Dagg, J. D. Cruickshank, G. Shaw, A. J. Perry. T. P. Lett, and E. Harper were appointed a committee, with power to add to their number.

On the motion of Mr 0. C. Cocp3r, a special committee consisting of the President, Mr D. McGregor, Mr Moodie, and the mover, was set up to arrange the order of sale, etc., at the ram fair.

The following new members were elceted:—Messrs A. Moodie, E. W. Payton, Arch. Anderson, W. B. Ingram, W. B. McFadzean, W. Cimpton and Mrs J. D. Ormond.
