WAIRARAPA RACING CLUB,
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of members of the Wairarapa Racing Club, held at Greytown on Thursday, was largely attended. The chairman, Mr W. E. Bidwill, in moving the adoption of the report an balance-sheet, referred to the very successful year the Club bad had. Ha said that they would have to provide for a larger payment of Stamp Duty, and that it must not be inferred that the abolition of the bookmaker would increase the revenue derived from the totalisator. There was no d.mbt that the present anti-gambling agitation was altogether due to the pony-racing clubs which were in existence until recently. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as^follows: — President Mr H. S. Wardeil; vice-presidents, Messrs W. E. Bidwill, Q. Donald, J. S. Cundy; judge, Mr W. H. Hartgill; deputy-judge, Mr A.
