TE WHARAU NOTES.

The severest frost we have bad this winter was experienced last night. The weather during the past week has been much improved.
The unmetalled roads in the back country are still in a bad state and not likely to improve much until the summer wealher arrives.
The friends of Mr J. Johnson, who has resided in this district during the past five years, will regret to learn that he has decided to leave the district shortly for another part of the Wairarapa, The Te Wharau football team journey to Gladstone on Saturday to p'ay the latter club, and as both teams are reported in the pink of condition a hard fought game should ensue.
Messrs Brechin and Cox, of England, are leaving here m the course of few dy3 for Gienburrj, where they hope to do some photography of New Zealand natural life. The Misses Kummer, of Kummerstein, who have been away in the north for the wii.ter, returned hom e last week.
