11 ie nev.-spapei' "Standard of Em" pire" states that Dr. Jameso-i, leader of the South African Unionist Party, in his recent speech ab Durban, outlined the history of the ill-fated Jameson Raid in 1895 He declared that the object of the raid was not to upset the Transvaal Republic, but to make Air Lucas Meyer Dutch President.
