Messrs Dalgety and Co., the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their special springing heifers sale held yesterday. Owing to a number of clients not considering their heifers forward enough the entry did not come in up to advertised numbers. We offered however, a very large entry to a record attendance of the public from all parts. There was a very good demand for forward stuff, for which the bidding was very spirited, and we could have easily sold the whole of our entry under the hammer had they all been shown up well. The bulk of the entry, however, was not forward enough to suit the buyers, consequently a number of pens were passed at auction. We quote as follows—Good quality Jersey heifers at drop, £8 8s to £9; other heifers at drop, £6, £6 4V6d, £6 10s. £7, to £7 15s; other?, £5 to £5 10s; backward heifers, £4 5" to £4 12s fid; springing cows, £4 12s 6d to £6.
