IMPORTANT PURCHASE OF HIGH-CLASS RAMS.

A "COMING" FLOCK. is likely *iZ oe heard in the near future is that owned by Mr John A. Macfarlane, of Ben Lomond Estate, Hawke's Bje, island,

We are advised that Recently Mr Macfariane effected art important purchase of stud sheep ffdm Mr Ernest Short, of Parorangi, Feiidihsr* the noted Romney breeder. Tbe Jot comprised one four-tooth ram and one six-tooth ram of the famous "Kecord" strain. Price, one hundred j guineas each. Those sheep cut 261b and 271b of wool respectively—enormous fleecea for Romney rams. Mr Macfariane also bought 25 stud ewes from the same celebrated flock at a long figure, but the actual price paid has not transpired. It may be remembered that the Ben Lomond wool topped the Napier sales in January last, realising the splendid prices of 14Jd for lambs wool and 14|d for ewe wool, the former, we believe, being among the highest, if not the highest price ever obtained for a similar class of wool io New Zealand. Mr Macfariane is an enthusiastic believer in the merits of Quibells Powdsr Dip, of which he is a constant user, and the results he is obtaining is a safe criterion as to his ability to judge of the best ! Dips to use. *
