CARTERTON NEWS.
Own Correspondent. Friday. The local Foresters have secured a good "leg-in" for the shield being played for in the card tournament under the auspices of the United Friendly Societies. They have secured five wins, and only one loss against them. Mr L. Herrick, who has sold his property here, is removing to Martinborough, having secured a farm a short distance out of that town. The local Lodge of Oddfellows have re-el°cted Bros. C. J. De Lacey and Geo. Bowles delegates on the United .Friendly societies Council. They were also accorded a vote of thanks for fhiir past services on the capacity of delegates. The health of Mr and Mrs S. Hart, of Carterton, is at present causing their relatives some anxiety. A load of wool from Gladstone was brought in to the local station for consignment to day. | A euchre tournament and dance in aid of the bazaar funds of ft. Mark's Church is to be held fct Parkvale at the end of the month. Mr G. P. Armstrong, son of Mr P. J. Armstrong, of this town, has arrived in London after a splendid [trip.
