MAJOR CUP. KNOX v. CARTERTON

Rosso? 1 , for i alleged rough play. The result of this match leaves Carterton winners j of the Cup, one point head of Ex- \ celsior, with P. and T, Knox, and Maryborough in the order named.

THOMPSON-PAYNE SHIELD.

POST AND TELEGRAPH v. EXCELSIOR. The first matchlor the ThompsonPayne Shield between the holders, Post and Telegraph, and the challengers Excelsior, proved one of the best games played on the Lansdowr.e ground this season. Both sides possess fast forwards and safe backs, and a very attractive game resulted. In the first half V. Richards scored for Post and Telegraph, and in the second A. Pragnell found tha net for Excelsior. Clarke in goal for Post and Telegraph was the best back en the ground, while Williams, and McGinnity, the Excelsior backs, ateo played well. Mr CarJey was referee.

ST. MATTHEW'S A. v. CARTERTON A. St. Matthew's A beat Carterton A at Carterton by f <ur goals to one. It. Morris 2, L. Boyd and V. Sutton scored for St. Matthew's. EXCELSIOR A. v. EXCELSIOR B. At Masterton Excelsior A team defeated Excelsior B by seven go?Is to nil. Potter 3, Hornblow 2, Ashley and Picton scored for the A team. ST. MATTHEW'S B v. CARTER-

St. Matthew's B. won by default from Carterton B.

"AGE" CUP.

RAMBLER v. HUIA.

■ The Rambler and Huia Clubs met for the last time yesterday afternoon, at Lansdowne. Huia had the stronsest team they have had in the field this season, including Miss E. Bicknell, who was for some seasons a prominent member of the Kia Toa champion teasr, and put up a better fight than they had previously done against Ramblers. The splendid team Huia had in the field put their opponents on their metal with the result that they had much the better of the game. Though Ramblers only won by one goal to nil notched in a scramble they missed two or three easy chances to score through bad luck. Mr B. Iveson was referee. By winning this match Ramblers are runners-up for the second year in succession, their record being—Won 7, lost 2, drawn 1. Ramblers hold the Cup, presented by Mr Ralph Morris for the beat Masterton team in the competition, for a year.

KIWI v. HINEMOA.

This game was a very even one and after a good contest Kiwi Won by one goal, score iby Miss Ashton, to nil. The Cups this season have been won as under:

MEN'S.

Major Cup, Senior: Carterton. Booth Cup, Junior, St, Matthew's and Excelsior tie. A play-off will take place on August 18th. NicolPrag cell Cup, Junior B: St. Matthew's.

LADIES.

Age Cup: Ladies, Kia Toa. Morris Cup: Bagt Mas*erton ladies team, Ramblers.
