Misb Maud Hayward, of Hastings, has been appointed to the position of Matron of the Masterton Hospital.

Mias Koydhouse, of Carterton, who has been on a holiday vi3it to Sydney, returned on Tuesday evening.

Mr Frederick Gooding of Western Lake, and son of the late Mr Jacob Goddine, one of South Wairarapa's best known settlers was married terday to Miss Davis, sister of Mrs Goldie, of LaKe Ferry.

The milk suppliers of Parkvale entertained Mr and Mrs L. Herrick at a valedictory social on Monday evening, and pr.aented the guests of the evening with a silver tea service, which was feelingly acknowledged by ftir Herrick. Mr C. Loranze.i made the presentation. At Pukio, Martinborough, on Monday atternoon last, Mr Cyril S. Pike, of Hutt, was married to Miss Mary Harm, eldest daughter of Mr J. Harri3, of Pukio. Misses Ida, Nita and Bertha Harris were the bridesmaids, Mr Childa best maD, and Mr G, Harr's groomsman.

On the eve of severing his connection with the staff of the Executors Toogood Estate, Mr Greathead was the recipient of a presentation from his fellow workers. Mr W. Sorenson made the presentation, and expressed the wish that prosperity would smile upon their old comrade.

At the meeting of the Masterton District Hospital and Charitable Aid Board yesterday, Mr Mark Maxton wrote resigning his position as a member oil the Greytown Hospital Committee. A vote of thanks was accorded him for his past services, and it was resolved to appoint Mr Kent-Johnston in nis place. Mr J. Colquhoun has resigned hi 3 position as a member oi the Masc- rton District Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, owing to ill-health. His resignation was received with regret at tae meeting of the Board yesterday, and the question of nominating a succ?ssor was left to the Masterton County Council. At St. Mark's Church, Cartevtor, yesterday morning, Miss Grace Mary Rayner, youngest daughter of Mr H. Kayner, of Woodlands, Parkvale, was married to Mr Percy Ashton, eldest son of Mr J. Ashton, of Carterton. Misses Pearl Ashton and J. Snell were bridesmaids, Mr Edward Wallis best man, a.id Mr J. Kayner groomsman.
