DID AMAZONS EXIST?

Excavations in an Iron Age Necropolis at I'elmonte, Ancona, revealed two rich tombs containing the bodies of female warriorsijihg under War chariots, it is believed this Js historic' proof that Amazons existed.
In Greek mytholozy the; Amazons were a nation of women who suffered no man to remain among them. Three nations of Amazuns have been mentioned by the ancients —(1) The Asiatic Amazois, from whem the others branched off; v 2) the Scythian Amazons, who In after tiroes married among the neighbouring Scythians, and withdrew into Sarmatia; and •-> {3) 4he African Amazons, who, under command; of tn°ir Queen Myrina, subdued the -Gorgons, marched through Egypt and Arabia, and founded their capital or* the Lake Tritonis, but were then annihilated by Hercules, 1 A failed tribe of female warriors was also said to have existed in South America. The report originated in an Indian myth, which was found from the West Indies to Paraguay, and stiil exists among the Caribs and otners.
