A GOOD SUGGESTION.
A suggestion of an'important character in regard to ram fairs was made by Mr W. Perry, the newly-elected President of the Masterton A. and P. Association, at the annual meeting on Saturday pfternoon last. Mr Perry said he would like to see, instead of the>resent ram fairs held by agricultural societies, and at which all breeds of sheep were submitted, ram fairs for each class of sheep held in various districts each year on lines similar to those carried on in England.' For instance, he said, at Palmerston JNorth one year a ram fair might be held, at which only Lincolns would be submitted, all the breeders of that class of ram, who desired to dispose of their sheep, sending them to Palnrerston North. At Masterton a Romney Marsh fair might be held; at Feeding a Southdown fair, and so on, changing the locality each year. He considered that this wuuld be much more suitable than the presant ram fairs, and would bring together a better class of sheep, attract more buyers, and generally tend to improve a breed.
