LONDON MARKETS.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Commerce and Tourists Division of the Department of Agriculture, Commerce aud Tourists, has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, July 30th:— Mutton:—The market is weak, although the supply is moderate. There is a poor local demand. Average price to-day, Canterbury 3gd, North Island 3Jd per lb. Lamb:—The market is steady and there is a* better demand. Holders are less anxious to sell. Canterbury 4|d, other than Canterbury 4§d per lb. Beef: There is a better demand for beef, and the market is firm with a hardening tendency. The supplies of chilled beef are small. N.Z. hinds to-day 3£d, fores 2gd per lb. Butter—The market is quiet, but steady. A good demand continues for best quality. New Zealand supplies are practically exhausted. The butter prospects fur the season are encouraging. Danish Il4s, Siberian 1009 per cwt. Cheese:—The market is steady with an improved demand. White 575, coloured 55s per cwt. Hemp.—The market is dull and declining and a pour business has been done. N.Z. good fair on spot per ton £24, fair grade £2l 10s, fair current Manila £2O, 10s; forward shipment, N.Z. good fair per ton £23 10s, fair grade £2l, fair current Manila £2O 10s. The output for the week from Manila was 25,000 bales Wheat: —The market is firmer owing to the wet season. t New Zealand long berried wheat on spot ex granary per qr. of 496 lbs 34s 6d, N.Z. short berried 33s 6d. Oats:—The market ia very quiet. N.Z. oats short, Sparrowhills, ex granary on spot per qr. of 384 lbs 18s, N.Z. oats Danish ex granary on spot per qr. of 320 lbs 16s 6d. Wool:—'ihe market remain-j firm.
