CARTERTON NEWS.
Own Correspondent. Monday. The Carterton Gun Club's "shoot" for the Colonial Ammunition Co.'a and Mr W. Howard Booth's trophies has been postponed to the 18th inst., on account of the Hunt Club "meet" and the Wairarapa P. and A. Society's ploughing match. Miss of the staff of Mr W. W. Mansfield, draper, severed her connection with the firm on Saturday evening, in view of her marriage, which takes place during the month. Mr Mansfbld, at a parcel tea given in the young lady's honour, presented her with a silver mounted oak tray, silver tea set, and an electro-plated cupid cake stand, as a mark of appreciation of her long and faithful service. An effort id being made to raise £3OOO here to establish a boot factory, It is proposed to call up one half the capital.
