A hundred prisoners, mostly brigands and smugglers, attempted to escape from the Fuenli Santa Piison r Portugal. Comrades bribed the gaolers to Introduce revolvers, fiief, and djnamite cartridges into the prison. The explosions that took place brought the Civil Guard to the scene. There was a stubborn fight, in which twenty prisoners were wounded. Nine escaped, but the rest were rei captured after fire hote bad been J brought into use.
