With respect to the recent application of the Colliery Employees' Federation for the dissolution of the Northern collieries' Wages Board (the application, which was dismissed, admittedly had for ita object the getting rid of Mr Paterson, the employee's representative on the Board) Mr Patterson declares that he has not the slightest intention of resigning from the Board. He says: "I am going to open the eyes of the men in the south and west, and show them how they were sold over in the latest strike." MINERS' AWARD MADE. Received August 1, 10 10 p.m. {SYDNEY, August 1. The Southern Collieries' Wages Board has given an award. Amongst the men's demands conceded are eight hours, bank to bank for miners, and preference to unionists. Labour other than miners, secured a reduction in the hours to nine, from bank to bank, and a slight increase in wages. The President of the Coal Miners Employees' Association states that the award is a very satisfactory one. They had not got all they wanted, but had mpde a sub stantial improvement.
