TOO MUCH RACING.
STATEMENT BY THE PREMIER. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 1. Sir J. G. Ward, replying to a deputation, from "the Racing Club, Raid that too much time was wasted on race meetings. Seven hundred and fifty meetings were held last year, which meant over two per day. He considered the time spent by the people on race-courses represented a serious loss in earning power of individuals. The position of many clubs concerned, though of the greatest importance to themselves, could not enter into the proposals of the Government.
